In addition to periodic internal inspection, the Pacific Northern Gas Ltd. (PNG)pipeline system is routinely patrolled by air and monitored electronically. The pipeline is also protected by an external coating and by a cathodic protection system, which inhibits external corrosion.
Damage to a pipeline or its coating is a serious concern. A gouge, dent or scrape can weaken the pipeline and if left unrepaired, could eventually lead to failure. If you come into contact with the pipe or its coating, please contact PNG immediately. Our qualified people will assess the damage and make the necessary repairs.
Being good neighbours requires a spirit of cooperation and goodwill. PNG distributes publications, provides updates to elected officials and public service announcements through the media on pipeline activities and information and safety guidelines.
PNG pipelines are constructed and designed so there is minimal interference with normal farming operations, however, some activities, such as sub-soiling, deep plowing or installing drain tile could affect pipeline integrity. If you are in doubt of the effect your activity might have on the pipeline, please call us before you begin your work. Don’t assume the depth of the pipeline. Get it located and the depth verified. IT’S FREE.
