Donations and Sponsorships

Pacific Northern Gas gives back

Pacific Northern Gas Ltd.’s (PNG) Corporate Donations and Sponsorships Committee is responsible for administering charitable giving and sponsorships. Requesting organizations must have a presence in their community and serve a broad section of the community.

The following factors are also considered:

  • Donations that benefit people living within the communities served by PNG;
  • Funds are spread evenly across the PNG service area;
  • A broad and fair cross-section of organizations are supported.

PNG makes donations across its service areas consistent with the foregoing criteria with a view to benefit a diverse cross section of people and organizations.  PNG will also provide Sponsorships for initiatives considered to be for the general public good but which are not by definition charitable donations.

Over the past several decades, PNG is proud to have assisted many organizations and charities in our Northern Communities including Arts, Sports, Youth, Community, Health, First Nations initiatives, Education, Emergency Response, Culture and Wildlife.

Scholarships

PNG funds the David Stanonik scholarship at the University of Victoria. This scholarship is awarded each year to a third or fourth year student in the Faculty of Engineering for outstanding academic achievements and is in recognition of David Stanonik, a young engineer tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident while working for PNG. David obtained his Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Victoria in 1997.

PNG funds two PNG Trades Development Award scholarships at each of Northern Lights College (NLC) and at Coast Mountain College (CMC).  Students must be from a Northern BC area that PNG serves, and enrolled in the Construction Trades/Trade Development programs.  Preference will be provided to an Indigenous student as well as a secondary school student enrolled in the NLC Dual Credit program or in CMC’s Youth Training in Trades Program.
