Maintenance Coordinator

Pacific Northern Gas Ltd., a subsidiary of AltaGas Ltd., owns and operates natural gas transmission and distribution systems. The Company’s western transmission line extends from the Spectra Energy gas transmission system north of Prince George to Kitimat and Prince Rupert, and provides services to twelve communities and a number of industrial facilities. In the northeast, Pacific Northern Gas (N.E.) Ltd. provides gas distribution service in the Dawson Creek, Fort St. John and Tumbler Ridge areas.

Reporting to the Manager Technical Services, the Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and analyzing PNG’s maintenance activities necessary for safe, reliable and efficient operations.  The Maintenance Coordinator (MC) works as an integral member of the operations management team.  Working with Operations Managers Field Personnel, the MC is a centralized asset management resource for   planning, scheduling, and analysis of preventative and corrective maintenance activities. The MC is also a supporting role for coordinating necessary resources, including parts, tools and employees for work related tasks associated within their designated area of operations.  The MC is expected to execute this work according to Pacific Northern Gas standard practices, and is responsible to effectively administer and manage the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), Maximo.

GENERAL PROFILE

  • Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in asset management, maintenance practices and the use of recognized CMMS software, ideally Maximo.
  • Produces reports and performs analysis from maintenance activities, including making recommendations on maintenance frequency and asset management activities.
  • Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends solutions.
  • Solves complex problems, and takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates successful execution of preventative and corrective maintenance activities through effective planning, execution.
  • Leads successful execution of non-routine maintenance and collaborate with the operations management and technicians to plan, manage, and coordinate related preventative maintenance, including repair and overhaul of equipment as necessary.
  • Administration of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (Maximo) and coordinating with the operations management  and technicians to create, assign, track and close all work orders such as service orders, preventative maintenance work orders and corrective maintenance work orders.
  • Ensures all work is planned and performed in accordance with PNG and external standards, processes and procedures (SPI’s, Integrity Management Plans, EH&S activities, etc.)
  • Works with operations managers and assist with preparing the scope of work, ensuring service contracts or purchase orders are in place, verify qualifications of contractors, report review and acceptance, and communicate with other departments as appropriate.
  • Assessing and documenting maintenance activities, measurement of maintenance performance indicators, performing failure analysis, performing assessment of availability, reliability, and cost, spare parts and materials, and equipment tracking.
  • Ensures all reports and findings are communicated to operating area managers and management team.
  • Reviews all work orders for timely completion with adequate documentation.
  • Analyzes, recommends and implements process improvements in areas that are inefficient.
  • Maintains controllable O&M expense metrics to improve budget development and review.
  • Understands operational economics of the operations.
  • Takes a lead role in handling data migration between CMMS systems or any necessary software updates and integration

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Engineering technologist or Engineering degree, preferably Mechanical
  • Extensive experience administering and managing a CMMS system, ideally Maximo.
  • Minimum 5 years work experience coordinating operations maintenance activities, preferably in the oil & gas industry.
  • Proficiency Asset Management and Maintenance analytic methods for assessing scope and frequency of maintenance activities.
  • Proficiency in maintenance for piping systems, rotating equipment, system integrity, measurement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite of tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Possess excellent technical, administrative, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of facility operations, maintenance, and commercial impacts of maintenance activities
  • Working knowledge of MS Project
  • Ability to proactively identify and resolve  root causes of mechanical failures
  • Previously involved with managing, scheduling, and/or communicating shutdown activities efficiently and effectively
  • Effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing to other individuals, teams, customers, and stakeholders of the business
  • Demonstrate an intermediate knowledge of general computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), with the ability to learn company specific programs.

 

Ideally this position is in Terrace, but it could be performed from Fort St. John, Dawson Creek, or any of our other operations facilities.
