Kitimat-Summit Lake Natural Gas Pipeline Looping (KSL) Project

Pacific Trail Pipelines is developing a natural gas transmission pipeline system to deliver natural gas from the Spectra Energy Transmission (SET) pipeline system at Summit Lake B.C. to the Kitimat LNG Inc. (KLNG) export terminal near Kitimat, B.C.

The KSL Project is currently undergoing an Environmental Assessment under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.  As part of this process, a Screening Report has been prepared by the Responsible Authorities, which identifies the potential environmental effects of the proposed Project and the mitigation measures necessary to adequately address potential adverse effects of the Project on the environment.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Transport Canada – the Responsible Authorities – are inviting the public to comment on the conclusions, recommendations and any other aspect of the Screening Report prepared for the proposed Kitimat-Summit Lake (KSL) Natural Gas Pipeline Looping Project.

Comments must be received no later than February 6, 2008.

KSL Project Receives Provincial Approval

On June 27, 2008, provincial Environment Minister Barry Penner and Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources Minister Richard Neufeld granted an Environmental Assessment Certificate to the KSL Project after considering a comprehensive review led by B.C.'s Environmental Assessment Office. The certificate includes numerous commitments to be met by Pacific Trail Pipelines to protect the environment.
